  • Portfolio of work with an explanation of your role in the project.
  • Demonstrated experience working in video and audio, including all aspects of the production process from concept to completion.
  • Demonstrated abilities working with professional video production and post-production equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience creating videos for an established brand, and social media channels (both in technical requirements and format/content).
  • Show strong video editing and color correction skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience directing inexperienced on-camera talent.
  • Demonstrated experience leading video projects while collaborating with others in a creative environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Adobe After Effects or animation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience multitasking and managing multiple video projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or working industry experience equivalent.
Job Description

The Office of University Marketing seeks a video content creator to tell stories that support the TXST brand. The videographer will be responsible for utilizing their unique creative talent to discover and produce content that tells the TXST story. This is a great opportunity to use your creative talents for the public good by creating original, compelling video stories about students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Working in a fast-paced environment, 70% of your time will be focused on 3–8-minute stories supporting recruitment and brand awareness.

The video content is created primarily for faculty and student recruitment, social media channels, and websites, with occasional digital OTT streaming and broadcast television. Work is mostly on San Marcos and Round Rock campuses, and there are also off-campus opportunities that will require some travel along with night and weekend work.

The successful candidate will be a skilled storyteller, have an eye for composition, keep a minimal design aesthetic when using graphics and type, and be efficient and organized in the editing process.

Job Duties
  • Conceptualize original ideas for videos used in marketing and advertising.
  • Make creative decisions in video editing.
  • Contribute to a unique approach in telling the story of Texas State University.
  • Utilize your unique talent to capture stylized video b-roll .
  • Originate a creative approach and style of storytelling through video, audio, and motion graphics that fit within the TXST NEXT branding campaign.
  • Identify, conceptualize, capture, and edit compelling stories that support TXST brand pillars.
  • Organize and plan video productions within the project management system.
  • Prepare and write outlines, scripts, and storyboards for video projects.
  • Take a lead role in coordinating and maintaining production timelines with talent and support staff. (e.g., faculty, administrators, staff, students, alumni, donors).
  • Set up and strike all lighting, camera, and audio equipment.
  • Direct talent.
  • Use audio and video post-production software for asset management, transcoding, titling, audio mixing, color grading, and media export.
  • Encode video and closed caption files for different delivery systems, including broadcast, social media, and web streaming.
  • Create and maintain archives of raw video footage and completed projects.
  • Research and implement new multimedia techniques to keep videos relevant to a modern audience.
  • Maintain a library of current b-roll of student life, academic activities, university experiences, and events.
