The Frankel Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan invites applicati ons for the Padnos Family Professorship in Jewish Thought. Successful candidates will be appointed at the tenured rank of Associate or Full Professor(UK/Commonwealth: Senior Lecturer or above).
This fi eld as we envision it encompasses the full range and dynamism of textual, material, embodied, and ritual sources that Jews across the globe have thought with and through. We invite applicati ons from scholars working in all subfi elds,geographical areas, periods, and languages of Jewish thought. We welcome scholars whose work in related fi elds such as anthropology, politi cal theory, law, religious studies, gender/sexuality/queer studies, environment and ecology intersects with the study of Jewish thought.
Candidates should demonstrate outstanding scholarly achievement as well as excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentorship. They will also be expected to contribute to the Frankel Center’s public outreach eff orts andparti cipate in cross-departmental initi ati ves and collaborati ons.
This is a university-year appointment with an expected start date of August 28, 2023
