Job Description

PURPOSE

The Coordinator of DEIB will report to the Assistant Director for DEIB will serve as the advisor to the Islander Cultural Alliance and will work with multicultural student organizations and multicultural fraternities and sororities, as well as assist with DEIB programs and events.

DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Advise Departmental Organization

Percent Effort: 60%

  • Serves as the primary advisor to the Islander Cultural Alliance
  • Advises and supports student groups/organizations (multicultural student organizations and multicultural fraternities/sororities) on appropriate programming.
  • Recruits, trains, and retains officers and members of the Islander Cultural Alliance.
  • Develops, plans, and implements the delivery of diversity celebrations, activities, events, and educational programs.
  • Oversees and implements risk management protocols for all programs and initiatives.

Functional Area 2: Program Management

Percent Effort: 40%

  • Helps coordinate departmental activities, programs, and services.
  • Acts as liaison between department and other campus agencies/departments.
  • Monitors budgets for programming area. Develop campus and community partnerships and collaborations.
  • Participates in creating departmental long- and short-range plans.
  • Leads the coordination of scheduling, correspondence, selection of material, arrangement of facilities, etc. for events/activities.
  • Creates publicity/marketing materials for events/activities and administers assessment of programs and services, reports findings, program statistics, and other outcome data.
  • Assists in the interpretation and development of University/ Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in university councils, committees and working groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years' experience in student affairs work or related specialty area.
  • Additional education may be used as a substitution for the minimum experience requirement
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and assessing programs for college students.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. Must be capable of establishing a safe and respectful environment with individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated experience and willingness to work as a team member.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or related field.
  • Experience advising student organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and visionary skills.


COMPENSATION
  • $3,250 - $3,500 monthly ( $39,000-$42,000 annually).
