Farmer School of Business: Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Diversity. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Engagement and Diversity, the Assistant Director will assist in recruitment and retention strategies for underrepresented students through Ryan Family Scholars, the Passport Initiative, and other pipeline programs. The Assistant Director will help promote Ryan Family Scholars and the Passport program at target institutions by cultivating relationships and developing a communications strategy with high school guidance counselors, prospective students, and families. The Assistant Director will act as a liaison with academic units across campus to ensure Ryan Family Scholars/Passport students with non-business majors receive wrap around services and are fully supported in their student experience.

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Diversity will be responsible for mentoring and Student Success by serving as a liaison with other academic divisions and their advisors across campus to ensure Ryan Family Scholars with non-FSB majors are receiving the highest quality advising, work with the Student Success office on tracking Ryan Family Scholars/Passport students in the university system and creating a reporting system for faculty to use to monitor progress of each student, collaborating with the Director to develop and launch life skills workshops and programs. This position will also assist the Director in identifying alumni and peer mentors for the Ryan Family Scholars/Passport and establish mentoring relationships to help nurture and develop these students; conducting office hours in Neighborhood Living Learning Community each semester with Ryan Family Scholars & Passport students; helping to coordinate and facilitate programming for Ryan Family Scholars/Passport participants in the Neighborhood Living Learning Community; and staying informed on professional, academic, and social issues impacting diverse students and develop tools to assess success of program activities. Promotion and Recruitment of Ryan Scholars and Passport Participants helping implement a recruitment strategy for Ryan Family Scholars/Passport students by encouraging and expanding student participation in high school pipeline programs such as the FSB diversity camps, shadow days, Bridges, etc., coordinating and executing outreach campaign showcasing Ryan Family Scholars and Passport students to guidance counselors, pipeline participants, and their families, coordinating with Office of Admissions on high school student recruitment initiatives targeting talented diverse students and their parents, promoting Ryan Family Scholars and Passport students by helping to create social media content, brochures, video, and website stories/testimonials, build additional “yield meal” style events to lock in and secure Ryan Family Scholars, coaching prospective Ryan Family Scholars/Passport students through college application process and track yield rate, helping create an impact report to share with high schools and future donors to the Ryan Family Scholars and Passport students and other duties as assigned.

Required: Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of experience in advising or supporting student success, established record of accomplishment of identifying, developing, and managing outreach programs with diverse communities (may include volunteer or experience as an undergraduate or graduate student).

 Position not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to candidates with a master’s degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, or Student Affairs and Higher Education, or other closely related field; outstanding interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational skills and highly self-motivated; willingness to work outside regular hours when programs include nights or weekends; ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; ability to solve problems creatively and efficiently.
