Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Advancement, the Executive Director of the Foundation is the key management leader of the Tarrant County College Foundation ( TCCF ) working in collaboration with the Chancellor and the Foundation’s Board of Directors to develop and implement a comprehensive development program designed to meet fundraising goals and providing vision, leadership, strategic direction and administrative oversight of the Foundation and its staff. The Executive Director of the Foundation interacts with a wide variety of benefactors, community members, alumni, faculty, staff, students, administrators, Board members and friends of the College to develop fundraising revenue, scholarships, major gifts, planned giving, annual giving and alumni affairs activities. This position is responsible for facilitating the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of private financial support from individuals, corporations and foundations. This position is a direct report to the Chancellor and a dotted line report to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
The Tarrant County College Foundation is a separately incorporated 501©(3) organization that works in collaboration with Tarrant County College District. The mission of TCCF is to invest in the success of TCC students through philanthropy and community partnerships.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Provides institutional leadership for all development activities and programs, in collaboration with the Foundation Board
  • Develops and directs a comprehensive development program utilizing a variety of fundraising strategies which include, major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation solicitations, events and annual fundraising efforts
  • Manages and cultivates of TCCF’s overall relationships with individual donors, foundations, companies, and organizations
  • Solicits contributions and other support from businesses, organizations, and individuals, including College staff, retirees and alumni, specifically focusing on gifts of $50,000 or more
  • Manages a prospect portfolio of 50 to 100 donor prospects which includes foundations, companies, and individuals
  • In coordination with the Chancellor and Foundation Executive Committee, establishes annual Foundation fundraising and alumni engagement goals, and manages progress toward those goals
  • Coordinates the Foundation activities with staff, the Foundation Board, TCC Board of Trustees, college presidents and key leadership to ensure the appropriate implementation of a comprehensive development program
  • Represents the Foundation by taking advantage of networking opportunities with personal, professional, and organizational affiliations, and attending functions and events that serve to effectively identify and cultivate prospective business and individual contributor relationships.
  • Initiates and manages a program of effective engagement and stewardship, including regular contact with alumni, major donors and recurring contributors in order to promote new initiatives and retain and maximize giving to the Foundation by proactively and systematically identifying and cultivating new prospects
  • Actively participates in the process of identifying and soliciting individuals for Foundation Board membership and other partnership opportunities that may be beneficial to the College and the Foundation
  • Prepares an annual development budget detailing annual financial growth objectives and estimated expenditures for development activities
  • Prepares proposals and other communications for solicitations to foundations, companies, organizations, and individuals
  • Plans, builds, and manages the infrastructure for individual giving, including the establishment of goals and processes that will ensure staff accountability, maximum effectiveness and fundraising best practices
  • Engages the Chancellor, Board members, and other TCC senior leadership in strategic solicitation and cultivation activities, as appropriate
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College
General Supervision and Management
Provides leadership for all Foundation support staff

Works under the general supervision of the Executive Vice President of Advancement

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five (5) years’ working experience in fundraising with progressive management responsibility, including senior level management, with a complex nonprofit organization/system
  • Three (3) years’ experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in philanthropy, business, education, management, or related field
  • Master’s degree
  • Executive-level leadership working experience at a community college, or a non-profit associated with a community college
  • Experience fundraising with Fort Worth foundations, other foundations, companies, individual donors, and other prospects
  • Experience overseeing development events
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of knowledge and expertise in of best practices in stewardship and relationship building
  • Knowledge of grant and proposal creation
  • Skilled in leadership and public relations
  • Skilled in purposeful and clear written and oral communication
  • Skilled in financial management, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations
  • Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Ability to work effectively with boards, educational institution leaders, community leaders and community constituents to achieve results
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse and urban
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, and build a strong team and the ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
