Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor (Studio Art)

The Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in studio art and art history. Its curriculum adopts an inclusive approach to Chinese art and culture – traditional, modern, international and contemporary, with particular emphasis on the connection between contemporary Chinese and Western art.

Applicants should have (i) a relevant doctoral degree, or a Master’s degree in fine arts, plus minimum four years’ post-Master relevant teaching/research experience at university level and/or professional experience; (ii) related teaching experience at university level; (iii) a good track record of research or strong research capacity and potential; (iv) ability to teach a wide range of courses in contemporary studio art practices; and (v) ability to teach effectively in both English and Chinese.  Expertise in socially engaged art will be considered an advantage.

Duties include (a) teaching; (b) conducting research and securing research grants; (c) supervise students' researches; and (d) assisting in administration, course co-ordination and project development work as assigned.

Appointment will normally be made on a contract basis for up to three years initially commencing August 2023, which, subject to performance and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
