Job Summary:
As a member of the University Communications team, the Multimedia Content Creator is primarily responsible for the creation of video, photography and written content for use on the college's web presence and social media channels as well as photographic content for university print publications and other communications. This position plays a vital role on the digital marketing team within University Communications, works closely with the strategic communications team, and is instrumental in creating content to achieve university goals related to reputation, student recruitment and fundraising.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:
  • Produce and edit videos (concepting, storyboarding, scripting, filming, graphics, music selection, narration services, post-production) using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut and Adobe After Effects
  • Shoot and edit photos (including news, feature and portrait photography) using Adobe Photoshop
  • Design and create media content to support digital and print communications: graphics, photography, video, audio, multimedia, and other forms of digital media
  • Create visual and written content for the university's social media platforms and furman.edu
  • Organize and manage the digital video and photographic asset library
  • Manage and maintain media equipment
  • Work with digital marketing and strategic communications teams to brainstorm and execute new ideas and content for digital media
  • Provide video, photo and social media coverage of select campus events, which may occur outside of standard office hours
  • Actively participate in meetings, with the ability to thoughtfully articulate new or improved ideas, strategies and questions
  • Assist with hiring, training and supervision of student employees

Skills/Experience:
  • The ability to artfully capture and communicate the student experience, faculty and staff activities and accomplishments, sense of community, campus beauty and other distinctive details through digital media
  • Bachelor's degree in multimedia design, film, marketing, communications or related degree
  • Knowledge of writing conventions specific to web-based communications
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut, Adobe After Effects
  • Knowledge of Lightroom, Photoshop and Adobe Audition
  • Proficiency in all aspects of video production, including the operation of cameras, studio and field lighting, and video editing
  • Strong understanding of photography principles and photo editing skills
  • Ability to quickly incorporate creative direction and feedback into new iterations of content
  • Excellent communication, creative and collaboration skills
  • High attention to detail, customer-service oriented and deadline driven
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a team-driven environment
  • Highly organized, process-driven, self-motivated and able to work independently, taking ownership of and responsibility for work progress
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, especially Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Live-streaming experience is a plus
  • Highest standards of design, planning and technical operation to ensure high quality outcomes
