The Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) seeks a Financial
Oversight Analyst, Intermediate to provide moderate to high level
post-award administrative support for all sponsored activities in
CHER. Also, responsible for providing day-to-day administrative
support for the department and the Assistant Director while working
closely with the Assistant Director and the Grant & Project
Support Coordinator, Sr.
Financial Oversight - 40%
- Support tracking and payment of invoices, working with
subrecipients on corrections as needed, establishing purchase
orders, processing payment requests, purchase order close-outs, and
monitoring of subaward balances.
- Point of contact for purchasing incentive. Maintain control of
departmental cards for redistribution, manag the fund transfer
process for cards that are redistributed, and working with research
staff on logs and disbursement.
Administrative - 30%
- Initiate fund transfers (IDT, IST, IPT) and funding changes
under direction of the Assistant Director.
- Support consultant, speaker, and non-employee travel claims
associated with CHER and CHER sponsored projects, including working
directly with vendors and partners to ensure accuracy.
- Serve as departmental Purchase Card and Travel liaison.
- Track copier invoices and process copier chargebacks.
- Liaise with Facility Services, ITS, Finance and HR Service
- Monitor the CHER email and organize the CHER small meeting room
Budgetary and Sponsored Project Support - 25%
- Reconciliation of budget spreadsheets and effort.
- Prepare monthly budget reports for project principal
investigators and provide support for close-out of sponsored
- Support for proposal and report preparation under the direction
of the Grant & Project Support Coordinator, Sr.
Other - 5%
- Support meeting schedule as needed.
- Support Assistant Director in hiring processes as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or
- 2 - 4 years of accounting or finance experience.
- Experience in grant or sponsored project management in an
institution of higher education.
- Understanding/experience working with Native Nations.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Working knowledge of financial oversight and operations tools,
procedures, processes, policies, and concepts such as payroll
management systems and budget analysis projects such as expense
- Knowledge of financial reporting in higher education,
university budgeting practices, and sponsored project reporting
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and
- High degree of familiarity with presentation of financial
information and data.
- Prepare detailed reports on a timely basis.
- Analyze non-routine situations and anticipate issues.

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the
following: a criminal background investigation, an employment
history verification and a degree verification (in some cases)
prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a
fingerprint background check. Additionally, as an employer in the
state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal

Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report
. The report is a result
of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery
reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed
calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU
uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report
crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the
Fire Safety Report
is combined with the Annual
Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this
campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire
safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing
and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. If you

Salary range begins at $50,000. Annual salary commensurate with
candidate's qualifications and related experience.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair
Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or
compensatory time for additional time worked.
This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent

. Classified Staff
employees are in a probationary status for their first six months
at NAU. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus. Employees offered a
position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's
BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits
on the first day of the
pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date.
Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in
benefits. Additionally, new employees will begin participating in
the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability
coverage that accompanies it, on the first of the pay period
following 6 months after the new employee's start date.
