Job Description:

The Department of Psychology invites applications for a position in Developmental Psychology at the Associate Professor or Professor level, to begin in August 2023. Clark University offers the advantages of both a distinguished research university and a liberal arts college. The Psychology Department has Developmental, Clinical, and Social Ph.D. programs (https://www.clarku.edu/departments/psychology).

We seek a developmental psychologist who investigates the relationships between human development and societal and cultural processes in ways that complement the existing strengths of the program. We are particularly interested in candidates who conduct research among diverse community samples in the U.S. or in other parts of the world, related to the impact of structural racism and/or other forms of systemic oppression on human development.

The ideal candidate would be interested in theory and application pertaining to these urgent social issues with expertise in advanced quantitative methods, and someone who could provide synergistic links with other programs within the department and university, including Clark's research Centers and Institutes (https://www.clarku.edu/academics/research" target="_blank">https://www.clarku.edu/academics/research).

The successful candidate should have a track record of external funding commensurate with experience; interest in contributing to the department's ambitious strategic planning efforts, including a willingness and capacity to take on future leadership roles in the developmental program and department; and a strong desire to contribute to the diversity of our campus through research, teaching, and involvement in such initiatives as the Psychology and Anti-Oppression Committee [PAO] and the university-wide anti-racist pedagogy group.

Candidates should have the ability to teach an undergraduate survey course in an area of developmental psychology, undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative research methods (both introductory and advanced), and undergraduate and graduate seminars and lecture courses in their area of interest. Advising and research mentoring of undergraduate and doctoral students are highly valued.
