Summary
Do you have desire to use your live event production and multi-media talents to support students, faculty and staff focused on educating and advancing communities of discovery to foster a healthier society? University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is currently looking for a second live production specialist. The life production specialists provide live production services, coordinate technical aspects of events, support theater and music production, and activities on campus. This position also supports technology in event spaces and classrooms, as well as assisting other members of academic technology in development and production of instructional media resources as needed.

This position requires technical aptitude, organizational and time management skills, the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with non-technical event planners, the ability to work independently and effectively prioritize, and the capacity to quickly learn new skills. This position is full-time, with semi-regular schedule adjustments to accommodate scheduled event times. Reports to the director for academic technology.

In this role, you will get to:
  • Plan and execute AV, lighting, and recording and streaming for live events such as Commencement, theater and music production, and student events.
  • Manage and maintain auditorium, production facilities, and related equipment and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with institutional events and operations staff to determine production options for internal event planners and rental clients.
  • Train and coordinate others on production systems when needed (e.g. co-workers, student workers, or contractors)
  • Assist Help Desk Technicians and vendors in maintaining, supporting, and engineering classroom A/V and recording/capture systems.
  • Assist with recording studio (as needed).


  • Qualifications
    To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, visual arts, production, or related field. Four years of full-time relevant professional experience may be substituted for a formal degree.
  • Three years of experience in live production is required.
  • Operate a digital audio mixer (e.g. Allen & Heath GLD series) to mix multiple sources to multiple outputs (mains, monitors, record, etc.). Ability to identify and engineer microphones and equipment needed for events spanning from guest speakers or presenters to full bands or theater productions.
  • Understanding of DMX controlled lighting, basic lighting design, and cue programing (e.g. Jands Vista).
  • Time and task management skills necessary to run bulk student recording sessions efficiently.
  • Communicate technical considerations in manner that is both understandable to and respectful of non-technical colleagues.
  • Serve as a project manager by understanding timelines and dependencies as well as by setting and managing the expectations of stakeholders throughout the event planning and coordination process.
  • Must work well under pressure and collaborate professionally with all faculty, staff and students. Must be able to coordinate and negotiate professionally with outside vendors.
  • Ability to demonstrate key values: pride of ownership, sense of responsibility, strong work ethic, and willingness to expend extra effort when necessary.
  • Manage and edit audio and video post-production projects and assets and contribute to creative vision for digital content planning and production preferred.
  • Experience working with Adobe creative software, including Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Premiere, Audition, or other related post-production software.
