Performs routine support in a laboratory to support academic or research work. May calibrate and maintain equipment and creates and/or updates records. May handle administrative and logistical tasks.

100% A. Teaching Support for Biology and Microbiology Courses

A1.Autoclaving of Biology biohazardous waste and oversight of proper disposal.

A2. Proper Cleaning and storage of glassware needed for teaching of Biology and Microbiology courses.

A3. Assist in preparation of media needed for teaching of Biology and Microbiology courses.

A4. Assist, as needed, with the set-up of Microbiology lab courses, potentially including maintenance of our stock culture collection.

A5. Maintenance of dishroom/autoclave room and proper training of autoclave users as needed.

Responsibilities Clean glassware; autoclave biology biohazardous waste; assist with microbiological media preparation and assist with set-up of microbiology lab courses as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred:
  • Background in basic biological techniques, such as making of solutions.
  • Use of equipment such as autoclaves, pH meters, hotplates etc.
  • Experience making microbiological media. Experience with sterile technique and culturing of bacteria.
