Salary for Announcement

Position Summary
The Department of Health Professions at Metropolitan State University of Denver is currently seeking an Office Administrator. This position serves as the operational manager for the department, implementing operational and budget transactions at the direction of the department chair. The position also serves to assist faculty and students with registration, scheduling, and access to university support services.
MSU Denver is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution ( HSI ) located on a vibrant tri-institutional campus in the heart of downtown Denver. More than half the approximately 18,000 undergraduate students are first-generation students and over 48% are students of color. As the third largest institution of higher education in Colorado and the only institution with an open access mission, MSU Denver is a model university for today’s college students. We are particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented and historically minoritized groups.
Duties/Responsibilities
Administrative (50%)
This position serves the department by assisting the Department Chair, full-time and part-time faculty, and students by managing all administrative functions of the Health Professions office. The incumbent will assemble needed work in the department, delegate that work to others and follow up; assist students with course enrollment difficulties such as overrides; manage the advising calendar for department advisors; advise and direct students to faculty or university advising resources based on identified needs; and manage the department website.
Budgeting (20%)
Maintain compliance with payroll and leave reporting processes; develop and implement reporting procedures to inform department policy decisions; enforce department, university and state procurement and asset protection policies and procedures; monitor budgetary expenditures; authorize payments of outstanding invoices; purchase office and instructional supplies; prepare and submit routine and ad hoc management reports to CPS and relevant offices.
Supervision (30%)
The position is responsible for direct supervision, training, and evaluation of student hourly employees who provide reception and clerical support to the department and faculty.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related office administration experience (one year of education is equal to two years of professional experience)
- Demonstrated experience providing administrative support
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
- Experience with web content management and use of web page creation tools

Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience making purchases and paying outstanding invoices in compliance with state, federal, and/or institutional purchasing rules and regulations
- Experience conducting analysis and monitoring of department expenditures and monitoring performance against budget targets
- Experience preparing and writing reports, leveraging online reporting tools where appropriate
- At least one year of administrative experience with supervisory responsibility in a higher education setting
- Experience supervising student staff including hiring, evaluating, training, and where necessary, conducting corrective training and performance improvement counseling
- Experience using Banner or related student information system
This is a hybrid position designed to support flexibility with both in-office work, as well as some remote schedules.
