Job Description
  • Serve as official liaison to federal government agencies as a Designated School Official (DSO)
  • Monitors regulatory updated and apply necessary change to operations, forms and advisement to maintain compliance
  • Proactively monitors and evaluates data in SEVIS and Informer database systems to identify issues needing resolution prior to data submission
  • Carry out all delegated international student advising process (from issuance, educational information, travel and immigration advise, review and verification of data, authorization or recommendation of appropriate benefits, employment), under the supervision and direction of ISSS leadership
  • Advise Faculty, Advisors, and Department Personnel (Graduate Secretaries, Personnel Coordinators) in matters related to international student or scholar processing, eligibility requirements, process issues, and opportunities
  • Liaise with SEVIS Helpdesk and the USCIS Service Centers when there are issues with an individual's immigration or employment record
  • Serving as liaison with admissions for all initial undergraduate, graduate, and law student I-20s, while providing ongoing support throughout the student's experience.
  • Supporting programming and other efforts undertaken by the office as the International Food Fair, Alternative Spring Break, and International Student Activities.
  • Facilitate documents issuance and process related student requests, such as bank, Social Security, and DMV letters
  • Review, advise, and sign I-20 documents for travel and ISSS support letters
  • Counsel students who are considering and interruption of studies
  • Assist with workshops and information sessions
Qualification
  • Knowledge base and experience with F - 1 immigration matters and laws and responsibilities that govern international students and exchange visitors preferred
  • Good understanding of current issues in the field of international education
  • Demonstrated professional, collaborative, collegial workstyle in dealing with students, faculty, staff, and off-campus partners
  • Working knowledge of basic office, communications, and data management software
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum 2-3 years' experience advising international students
Tuition Benefit

After 1 year of continuous full‐time service, employees are eligible to enroll in STU’s bachelor and master courses, tuition‐free. The program will cover a maximum timeframe of 125% of credit hours attempted toward the degree program. Employees may enroll in STU’s doctoral program, with a 40% tuition discount, under the same conditions.
