Position Summary:
The Public Services Assistant, Evening and Weekend, is a full-time classified staff position with responsibilities in the Library's Access Services unit. Responsibilities of this position include: providing in-person library staff coverage for evening and weekend hours at the library's circulation desk; providing customer service to library users; working with faculty, instructors, and students to implement the Library's course reserves program using library software; and assisting with Rapid Interlibrary Loan requests.This position, in cooperation with the student coordinator and the overnight supervisor, works cooperatively to staff the circulation desk in the library with support from student employees. General schedule is 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday during the academic year, shifting to regular business hours during the summer. Some flexibility is required as hours may vary if desk coverage is required, if library hours change, or if other staffing needs arise.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Customer service orientation and experience
- Experience learning, adapting, and using technology in a professional setting
- Experience with library systems, services, or processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using integrated library systems such as Alma
- Experience working with library course reserves
- Experience providing library public services in an academic or university environment
- Experience working with diverse communities or experience in creating inclusive environments
