Job Description:

Bellarmine University W. Fielding Rubel School of Business invites applications for the position of Endowed Chairperson, Department of Accounting.  In alignment with the University's values, priorities and commitment, we seek an individual dedicated to and invested in equity and inclusiveness.

The Chair serves as the department administrator and as a representative for the accounting program to both internal and external stakeholders. Internally, the Chair engages in teaching, in research/scholarly activity, and with students via the accounting association and internship programs. Externally, the Chair will nurture and develop relationships with the accounting community and alumni. The Chair reports to the Dean of the School of Business.  This position is a 12-month, tenure-track, or tenured based on experience, faculty position at the associate/full professor rank (based on experience) beginning July 1, 2023. 

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in accounting or a JD/LLM and be qualified as a Scholarly Academic or Practice Academic according to AACSB standards  
  • Record of teaching and scholarship effectiveness commensurate with the rank of associate professor or full professor
  • Demonstrated commitment to administrative effectiveness and an ability to interact well with faculty, administrators, students, and the community 
  • Demonstrated commitment to and leadership in promoting equity, inclusion and diversity
  • Success in effective program development, student recruitment and retention, and recruitment and development of faculty and staff
  • Track record of building and growing successful professional accounting programs and relationships
  • Current CPA license is preferred for this position

Additional Information:

The W. Fielding Rubel School of Business is accredited by AACSB International and the accounting department has a long history of excellence with strong ties to the accounting community. This strong relationship enables approximately three-fourths of accounting majors to complete a part-time internship before graduating with over 50% of students participating in a part-time internship during any given semester. Additionally, during their junior year, roughly 40% of accounting majors complete a full-time internship. Bellarmine's accounting graduates have achieved high pass rates on the CPA examination with 90% placed in local, regional, and Big-4 accounting firms (40% - 50% in Big-4 firms).
