Director, SUPERA Spanish Speaking Program

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Advising, Persistence and Success, the SUPERA Spanish Speaking Program Director (Director 3) will support the mission of the SUPERA Program. The SUPERA Spanish Speaking Program offers Hispanic students who are English Language Learners (ELLs) access to higher education. Through SUPERA, students follow a structured study program designed to achieve full integration into university life. This includes taking courses in Spanish during their first years of study. The Program provides student-centered advising and counseling to assist students in developing intellectually, socially, culturally, and personally to reach the ultimate goal of completing their baccalaureate degree. The Director is responsible for all operations of the SUPERA Program, including administration, supervisory and budgetary responsibilities.

The Director must advocate on behalf of students by establishing collaborations with staff and University academic units. They must identify and apply for grants that support Program needs. The Director will supervise staff, prepare budgets and prepare quarterly reports. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Counselor Education, Higher Education, Communications, Social Work, Public Administration or a related field and a minimum of three years of higher education experience involving retention initiatives, demonstrated knowledge of developmental education and understanding of the various risk factors associated with SUPERA students, including direct experience working with underrepresented/at-risk populations is required. Ability to speak fluent Spanish is also required. Experience working with grants is essential. Candidate must have excellent administrative and organizational skills; excellent data-gathering, management, analysis and reporting skills; supervisory experience; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
