Position Summary Information



Summary
As the Outreach Coordinator, provide representation of the Gordon and Jill Bourns College of Engineering at California Baptist University to schools, universities, and community to develop collaboration and support of the goals and distinctives of the Engineering College by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the Internship program for the College of Engineering including communications, processing, data collection, recording, and analytics.
  2. In support of the curriculum, research and acquire engaging lecturers from the community to do on-campus presentations. Follow through on secured interest by working with professors to schedule speakers for the courses to enhance learning.
  3. Research, develop and help facilitate implementation of Engineering Service Projects ( ESP ) and International Engineering Service Projects ( IESP ) for students.
  4. Identify companies, organizations, and individuals seeking graduates and student interns, sponsor projects, fund equipment and facilities; provide capstones and scholarships.
  5. Research and pursue individuals who are excellent in their field and support the goals and vision of CBU to be curriculum partners advisory council members and fulfill other engagement opportunities with the CoE.
  6. Research and facilitate implementation of initiatives to increase interest, enrollment, and retention in the College of Engineering.
  7. Plan and implement STEM outreach events, camps, and programs in support of the CoE and in partnership with local districts and organizations.
  8. Develop and execute annual outreach high school camps focusing on future student enrollment into the CoE.
  9. Develop and execute annual outreach to upper elementary to junior high camps in conjunction with other schools at CBU to establish a collaborative development of student skills and interest in STEM .
  10. Support the needs of the College as it relates to entities inside and outside of CBU .
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments. Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled/experienced with communication in the engineering/computer science field regarding technical content is preferred.

  • Skilled at self-initiative, prioritizing work, and staying on task without supervision.
  • Adept at coordinating and organizing meetings and/or special events with outside sources.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Experienced with Excel
  • Ability to make administrative, and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Ability to use independent judgment, and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent telephone courtesy, knowledge, and experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to comfortably engage with students of all ages.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. STEM related degree and/or experience preferred.
