A.T. Still University (ATSU) invites applications for an exempt Associate Director, Digital Communication & Marketing (C&M). The Associate Director is responsible for the management, coordination, oversight and reporting of all marketing projects and metrics under direct supervision of the Executive Director, Communication & Marketing. This position will represent C&M and will attend all designated meetings. The Associate Director will supervise and manage a minimum of 1 direct report; Asst. Marketing Coordinator, subject to supervising more than 1 direct report at the executive director’s discretion.

General Job Purpose
  • Responsible for assisting the executive director in the development and management of all A.T. Still University ASHS and CGHS digital marketing. Includes but is not limited to the development and collaboration with ATSU’s agency for execution of online strategies.
  • This role is responsible for reporting on the funnel of marketing and lead generation for prospective online ATSU students.
  • Responsible for assisting executive director in budget management, analytics reporting, input sessions, presentations, and leading weekly meetings with all online program stakeholders.
  • Assist executive director in the development/management, communications, and public relations operations for ATSU. The position is responsible for developing product and market strategies that positions ATSU to achieve long term growth, brand reputation, and brand awareness.
  • Assist the executive director in the development of brand strategies to promote the ATSU brand across all channels.
  • This position assists the executive director in management of the university website.
  • The associate director will support the executive director and will directly contribute to the company’s strategy, priorities, and culture. Through leadership abilities, a strategic mindset will significantly impact the fulfillment of the ATSU mission and vision.
  • This position will support the executive director in overseeing communications and marketing operations for ATSU. The position supports the development of product and market strategies that position ATSU to achieve long-term growth while meeting budget goals. The position is responsible for continually identifying and assessing new marketing opportunities, brand and technology opportunities and ensure resources are in place to drive marketing strategy and capitalize on opportunities.
Major Job Duties
  • Leadership and management
    • Provide comprehensive monthly reports to the executive director including but not limited to performance data for all online schools and all ATSU departments and programs.
    • Support the executive director with providing editing to all content prior to distribution or presidential review: including but not limited to copy, print, online, digital, website, presentations, publications, press releases, radio, tv, social media, signage, and collateral.
    • Administer comprehensive performance reviews to direct reports and hold bi-weekly 1:1 meetings.
    • In the absence of executive director, the associate director will lead weekly team meetings for individual updates including progress of production projects.
    • Provide mentorship, enthusiasm, and guidance to develop direct report(s) career trajectories.
    • Provide constructive feedback, encouraging educational and experiential growth opportunities.
    • Lead by example, take full responsibility every time, and all the time.
    • Provide genuine accolades among the team’s peers, and always maintain a positive attitude and respect.
    • Maximize the strengths of the D,C&M team members and align their efforts to the university’s mission and vision.
    • Oversee production timelines and seek innovative methods and software to maximize efficiencies.
    • Assist in managing annual department and online program budgets and seek innovative methods and software to maximize efficiencies.
    • Stay current with events, diversity and inclusion, advanced academic learning, trends, and general awareness of political climate.
    • Will travel, when necessary, at the discretion of the executive director, to Kirksville, MO, St. Louis, MO, and Santa Maria, CA.
    • Assist executive director in the development of a University-wide marketing plan. The plan will be reviewed and approved by the president, prior to implementation. The plan will provide detailed recommendations for the annual communications and marketing budget. The plan will be assessed/edited annually in sync with normal planning cycles to ensure accurate resources to achieve the departmental commitments to the organization.
    • Assist executive director with prioritizing marketing projects and allocate resources accordingly.
    • Stewards the relationship with contracted agency, vendors, and partners to ensure short and long- term effectiveness and wise use of resources between outside partners and internal capabilities.
    • Supports executive director in the development and management for departmental budget(s).
  • Online marketing for Arizona School of Health Sciences and College of Graduate Health Studies
    • Assist executive director in the development and execution of all A.T. Still University online marketing, strategies, communications, media/public relations, partnerships to meet enrollment goals
    • Assist executive director in the oversight and direction of outside advertising/marketing agencies.
    • Responsible for ensuring annual marketing expenditures for ASHS and CGHS online programs are on budget.
    • Participate and present reports in all ASHS and CGHS update meetings providing comprehensive analytics and performance data.
    • Assist executive director in the development of key messages, strategies, and techniques to maximize campaign results.
    • Assist executive director in the management of market awareness and opportunities for innovating multimedia marketing tactics.
    • Partner closely with the ASHS and CGHS programs to align strategic initiatives and quantifiable results needed to support lead generation and enrollment.
    • Responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of key performance indicators to ensure program efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Evaluate post-campaign insights on launch performance with stakeholders, and future opportunities.
  • Internal Communications
    • Support executive director in all internal email and online communications to all faculty, staff, and students.
    • Support executive director in management of ATSU News content and imagery to ensure proper messaging, branding, and lead generation for CGHS and ASHS online programs.
  • External Communications
    • Support executive director in management of all University-based social media content, ATSU News, and messaging
    • Be the main point of contact representing the university for all media relations and statements
    • Responsible for the oversight of all external email communications to the general public
    • At the discretion of the executive director, attend production projects including professional photography, videography, editing, testimonials, and sound recordings
    • Ensure effective collaboration between agencies to all departments, programs, and schools.
  • University Website
    • Assist executive director in management of the internal teams and agency for website development, maintenance, daily updates, and content
    • Liaison between external agencies, vendors, stakeholders, and team members to ensure up-to-date content, and compliance measures.
  • Budget Management
    • Assist executive director in the development of annual University-wide marketing plans. The plans will be reviewed and approved by the president before implementation. The plan will provide detailed recommendations for the annual communications and marketing budget. The plan will be assessed/edited annually in sync with normal planning cycles to ensure accurate resources to achieve the departmental commitments to the organization.
Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor's plus advanced degree in communications and/or marketing required.
  • A minimum of 5 years marketing experience in higher education, business development and/or healthcare industry communications and marketing, with a proven track record of progressively responsible positions required. The work requires an understanding of the impact of public opinion and policy upon the University. The associate director must have demonstrated experience consulting and advising senior level executives. The job requires excellent oral, written, and other communication skills; ability to multi-task, and the ability to travel a few times a year between campuses. S/he should be familiar with and able to implement the strategic use of multiple media channels.
