Assistant Professor in Industrial and Organizational Psychology

The Social and Behavioral Sciences at Soka University of America invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, beginning August 1, 2023. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology or a closely associated subfield within psychology (“All but dissertation” or ABD candidates will be considered). 

As part of a five-course teaching load, candidates will be expected to teach some combination of undergraduate courses in Introduction to Psychology, research methods, upper division psychology courses in the candidate’s area of interest, and other courses in the general education program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for mentoring undergraduate students, motivation to work collaboratively with faculty from diverse fields, and the ability to develop and sustain a research program that can involve undergraduates trained broadly in the liberal arts. 

Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds, especially with regard to socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, ability/disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity and have a willingness to facilitate the university’s mission to develop global citizens.
