Job Summary

The Admissions Counselor plans and carries out the recruitment and counseling of prospective students; serves as official representative of Georgia Southern University at college fairs, high school visits, and other recruitment activities within an assigned territory. The Admissions Counselor collaborates with Admissions staff in recruiting students from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee in support of the University's enrollment goals.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Plan strategic recruitment initiatives to meet enrollment goals for a set population or territory
  • Work with Admissions staff to meet enrollment goals for assigned territory and new students
  • Encourage, promote, and maintain working relations with school counselors and other educators
  • Maintain regular correspondence with prospective students by telephone, email, and handwritten letters
  • Provide admissions information to prospective or new NC/SC/TN students and represent the University at onsite locations and activities, including college fairs and high school visits (travel overnight/and make extended trips)
  • Assist with the maintenance and expansion of recruitment database files and reports
  • Provide daily information sessions for visitors
  • Perform additional recruitment duties, including participating in admissions events on and off campus
  • Review admissions and scholarship application files
  • Assist with the documentation and processing of border state waivers
  • Promote scholarship opportunities offered from the Office of Admissions to eligible students
  • Inform prospective students and parents about the University


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience
  • One (1) or more years of related work experience


Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to assess student academic standing and extracurricular activities, and provide information on university programs, majors, admissions requirements and processes, and scholarship and financial aid resources

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in college admissions or enrollment office


Proposed Salary

$38,300

This is a bi-weekly, benefitted position paid at an hourly rate.
