Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Global Catholicism

The Department of Religious Studies at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment to begin in August 2023 in Global Catholicism, with a focus on Catholicism in Africa, Asia, and/or Latin America.

The successful candidate will be able to teach courses that illustrate Catholicism’s participation in a globalized and multicultural religious landscape and how Catholicism is rich and multifaceted, with numerous, local, indigenized varieties. The successful candidate will engage in research in her/their/his scholarly discipline and will present and publish actively. We welcome applicants with PhDs from across scholarly disciplines in theology and religious studies, including (though not limited to) history of Christianity, missiology, ecclesiology, ecumenical studies, interreligious dialogue, religious pluralism, and religious ethics.

This position will also allow opportunities to collaborate with Catholics & Cultures ( https://www.catholicsandcultures.org/ ), an initiative of the Rev. Michael C. McFarland Center for Religion, Ethics, and Culture at Holy Cross that explores lived Catholicism across the world and which sponsors The Journal of Global Catholicism ( https://www.catholicsandcultures.org/node/576 ). The successful candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to interdisciplinary programs in Africana Studies; Asian Studies; Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies; Peace and Conflict Studies; Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies; Catholic Studies, and Environmental Studies.

This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a full-salary one-semester research leave prior to tenure review, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. Tenure-track faculty are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College’s published policies. Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching at the introductory and advanced levels as well as scholarly achievement. Ph.D. required.
