Minimum Qualifications
•Must have a master's degree
•Must have seven year's of higher education experience
•Must have experience supervising full-time staff
•Demonstrated experience with the use of technology, including database management
•Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated in the application materials
•Strong evidence of progress leadership experience

License/Certification Required Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates two Assistant Directors and Front Desk Supervisor. Indirect supervision of an Assignments Coordinator, Administrative Specialist, student staff, and interns.
  • Collaborates with the housing leadership team to create a caring, supportive, collegial, learning, and team focused department.
  • Serves on the leadership on-call rotation for the department with the Director, Senior Associate Director, and three Assistant Directors in Residence Life.
  • Creates a long-range vision for student and administrative services, follows best practices, and works to support the strategic plan of the department, division, and university.
  • Determines the needs and provides support for StarRez and other technology within the department, collaborating with Electronic Student Services and other offices/departments involved.
  • Works closely with the Director in all aspects of residential occupancy and management.
  • Directs all functions related to residence hall assignments for students including the coordination of assignments for ~6150 beds on campus.
  • Determines student and administrative needs and priorities by reviewing best practices; establishing committees, work groups & focus groups; developing programs, procedures, and policies that meet departmental, divisional, and university needs.
  • Coordinates administrative room changes in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Students, Title IX, Facilities, and Residence Life.
  • Creates and executes a communication plan for the department and ensures staff are trained appropriately.
  • Guides the direction and support for all communications and marketing functions within the department.
  • Fosters and facilitates long and short-range planning as it relates to the housing contract and policies, applications and assignments, communications, marketing, and technology.
  • Conducts housing rates reviewal process with student leaders and divisional representatives.
  • Oversees departmental housing charges, student account billing, and appeal review for special circumstances through petitions and appeals.
  • Presents to parents/guardians, students, and other constituents for orientations, open houses, and sessions on housing processes and procedures, residential and community living, and license contract and associate policies.
  • Trains undergraduate, graduate, and professional staff on the housing contract and associated policies.
  • Works in conjunction and collaboration with the director and other university leaders as it relates to policies and procedures that impact the University Housing program and its operation.
  • Ensures the University Housing Residence Hall License Contract is annually updated and vetted by appropriate offices to maintain consistency and fairness with university policies and procedures.
  • Establishes appropriate timetables for housing assignments processes including a communication plan, dates and deadlines.
  • Aids in the direction and support for the technology functions within department and residence halls.
  • Leads and serves on on departmental and university-wide committees and task forces as assigned
  • Seeks sustainable initiatives aligning with the academic mission of the university and include the ideals of a just society that embraces all forms of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Attracts and retains quality staff in the areas of diversity and inclusion.
  • Assists with the recruitment, selection, and training of staff
  • Supports crisis management response and case management for resident students.
  • Reviews on-call duty logs and consults with staff as needed.
  • Provides leadership during crises in the residence halls or the greater campus community as needed
  • Provides emergency assistance to staff and residents as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Housing.
Suggested Salary Range $72,000-$77,000 Physical Demands of Position
