The HR Front Desk Lead will work closely with the Assistant to the AVP of HR and HR Associate Floater to lead the HR front desk function and student employees. Our mission is to provide excellent customer service to all employees of the University and any visitors to the Administration Branch. This position will give guidance and mentoring on how to operate with a high level of customer service, to our front desk student employees. This position will also be responsible for day-to-day tasks, ensuring operational flow of the front desk, and recommending procedural changes.
This is a classified hourly 9 month position, not benefits eligible. Duties/Responsibilities
  • Team lead – Lead the front desk staff by scheduling student work hours, developing front office procedures and mentoring and training staff.
  • Front desk – Answering phone calls, processing paperwork, handling mail, calendar maintenance (including scheduling and reserving rooms), and granting access to the department’s secure areas. This is a fast paced environment with specific assignments and strict deadlines. This position provides services to all types of MSU Denver employees including faculty, administrative staff, and student employees. This position will also answer general HR questions and/or re-direct questions to appropriate HR representatives.
  • Assist HR staff – This position will support the HR staff by participating in special projects and other tasks.
  • Administrative duties – Create and maintain personnel files, copy and scan documents, schedule and assist with departmental events and trainings and update employee information in Banner. In addition, this position will occasionally assist the Assistant to the AVP of HR and HR Associate Floater by sending the agenda/minutes and taking minutes (notes) in department meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned – Including but not limited to actively engaging in continuous process improvement, professional development opportunities and more.

Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in an office environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Previous experience in leading a team or managing staff.
  • Previous experience in an environment that required customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Previous experience mentoring and training a team.
  • Experience working in a Human Resource (HR) office.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain group cohesion and work effectively as a team member.
