The Tepper School of Business is home to many programs and research programs that cross subject areas. We approach scientific problems from fresh angles using creative interdisciplinary approaches while drawing on our strengths in the core social sciences. Tepper faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in a variety of fields, including organizational behavior and theory, economics, finance, and accounting.

Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business is searching for an Executive Director, Masters Admissions. This is a dynamic opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing essential support by recruiting and enrolling qualified students in each of the Tepper Master’s Program and ensuring that target enrollment numbers are met in targets for both quality and quantity. The Executive Director works with Tepper Leadership to set the strategy for reaching enrollment goals and leads the Admissions team to implement the strategy and is responsible for enrollment results. This position also hires, trains and evaluates the performance of the Admissions team, handles the budgets and works closely with the Master’s Leadership Team to reach the OKRs of the Masters office and the Tepper School.

Your core responsibilities will include:
  • Directs and oversees prospective outreach and recruiting efforts for the purposes of admitting students into the Masters Programs at the Tepper School of Business.

  • Manages a team of Admissions Officers to meet organizational and program goals. Monitors and assesses performance and provides coaching and mentoring for improvement and growth. Provides recommendations for hiring, individual and team development and compensation actions.

  • Oversees and manages strategic partnerships with faculty, alumni and key collaborators to increase outreach to prospective students and achieve recruiting goals.

  • Works within Tepper, CMU and with external partners to support Tepper’s DEI activities

  • Provides recommendations to Dean and senior leadership re: strategies and improvements to recruiting, outreach and admissions processes and advises on competitive trends with peer institutions.

  • Responsible for creating and distributing timely admissions data to leadership for strategic planning and rankings submission.

  • Recommends department operating budget and manages spend.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • 8-10 years of experience in higher education, business, or related field

  • Or a combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge
