40% Teaching:
Teach and develop courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs (in-person and online), based upon needs of the School.

Demonstrate sustained productivity through peer-reviewed publications, sponsored projects/grants, papers and presentations for national and international academic and professional audiences, or other forms of research, whether creative- or community-based projects recognized at the national or international level.
20% Service:
Service responsibilities include involvement in the regular academic activities of the School, including committee assignments and major School functions, serving on and chairing graduate committees, as well as participation in professional service in academic, professional and/or media organizations.

Position Overview
The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas is searching for a full-time, tenure-track/tenured professor at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Appointment at a particular level will be based on applicant’s qualification and record. The position is expected to begin August 2023.
Come and engage with students in our newly remodeled building, where we’ve focused design and technology around the student experience and future media. Applicants that demonstrate teaching, research, or creativity expertise in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: international communication, media writing, content creation, visual communication, and media management. This position was created as part of a successful National Resource Center grant, and will have a courtesy appointment with KU’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
The School has a state-of-the-art experimental research laboratory which includes physiology data collection, eye tracking and facial emotion recognition. The School is also home to the Center for Digital Inclusion, as well as the Center for Excellence in Health Communication to Underserved Populations.

- A Ph.D. in mass communication or a related field. If ABD, the Ph.D. must be achieved within six months of employment start date.
- Demonstrated (or high potential for) teaching excellence in a university setting including the ability to develop and teach in-person and online courses.
- Demonstrated (or high potential for) research and/or creative success as shown through publications, portfolio, awards, research grants, or working papers.
For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor (tenured):
- A Ph.D. in mass communication or a related field.

- Demonstrated excellence in research and/or sustained creative works as shown through publications, portfolio, awards, research grants, or working papers that have either enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Associate Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas or meet the expectations in professional experience for qualifications.
