The Department of Sports Administration (DSA) in the College of Business at Ohio University is home to top world-ranked programs and the oldest sport management program in the world. We are recruiting for a Chairperson of the Department of Sports Administration (DSA) at the tenure-track rank of Associate or Full Professor to lead the Ohio sport family where traditions meets innovation. Preference will be given to individuals with a record of teaching and research with sport business or brand marketing experience, and a record of innovation. This position is in-person on campus in beautiful Athens, Ohio and is set to begin July 1, 2023, although the start date is somewhat flexible. The position includes expertise in sport business content areas and teaches in graduate and undergraduate programs. It also appreciates innovative teaching pedagogies and will assist in the continued development of both residential and online curricula. The teaching load for department chairs is two courses (three releases).

The chairperson communicates and collaborates with students, faculty, sport business leaders, alumni, and other diverse internal and external constituencies. Additionally the chairperson provides leadership and personnel development within a complex organization while developing and executing an academic vision. A role within the College’s Executive Team as well as with DSA Alumni Advisory Board’s is also expected.

About Department of Sports Administration
The DSA is one of six academic departments in the College of Business and currently includes 10 full-time faculty members. The DSA is accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). The DSA offers one undergraduate and three graduate programs, as well as executive education. Currently, the DSA has approximately 400 undergraduate majors in Sport Management and 175 graduate students in its four graduate programs, the Master of Sports Administration, the Professional Master of Sports Administration, the Master in Athletic Administration, and the Master of Business Administration/Master of Sports Administration.

With a 50 year history, DSA is a global leader in sport business education. Ohio University’s Sports Administration program maintains close connections with many of our 4,000 loyal alumni working and leading in every sector of sports business. We house students from every corner of the world and all walks of life with industry leading job placement and average salary after graduation.

DSA graduates provide a crucial base of support for our programs, including hosting interns, serving as mentors, providing consulting and research projects, serving as guest lecturers, and providing financial support.
