The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Salve Regina University invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (depending on qualifications), starting in the fall 2023 semester. The department offers a mathematics major; a dual degree program leading to a B.A. in mathematics and a masters' degree in data science in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth; a minor in data analytics; and an interdisciplinary minor in mathematical finance; and provides the mathematics and computer science components of dual 3+2 (BA/BS) and 3+3 (BA/BS/MS) engineering programs with Washington University in St. Louis. Additionally, the department offers courses in the core curriculum and courses that constitute the mathematics, statistics, data analytics, and computer science components of other programs at the university.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include teaching a variety of undergraduate mathematics courses with a 3-4 teaching load, advising undergraduate students, mentoring student research, participating in department and broader faculty meetings, serving on committees, and engaging in other opportunities for service to the university. The successful candidate is also expected to engage in research and scholarship, and take initiative in supporting student engagement within the department.


Requirements:

Candidates must have a doctorate in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, or a related field, and must provide evidence of strong teaching ability. While candidates with research interests in any area of the mathematical sciences are welcome to apply, the successful candidate must be able and willing to teach a range of undergraduate mathematics courses; preference will be given to candidates with significant teaching experience and those who demonstrate an interest and ability teach a range of courses in the Mathematical Sciences Department.
