Position Summary
The Senior Director of International Graduate Student Outreach and Admission will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy and implementation of international recruitment, admission, and enrollment for graduate students. This position will collaborate with all members of the graduate admissions team, and undergraduate international admissions, on processes related to inquiry cultivation, virtual and on-campus visits, scheduling interviews, and application tracking and outreach. This position will also be the primary point of contact for external international recruitment partners and work with offices across campus on various elements of partnerships, and onboarding, focused on international students. This position will be comfortable navigating international markets, either in person or virtually. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in enrollment of international graduate students. This position will report directly to the Provost.

 

 

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic international enrollment plan that supports the university’s strategic plan.
  • Manage international applicant file review and the international admission communications flow.
  • Evaluate and verify international transcripts/mark sheets, degrees/diplomas, and exam scores for graduate applicants.
  • Utilize the Slate CRM to run queries and track prospects’ progress through the enrollment process. Collaborate to enhance the Slate CRM and develop a more robust interface for international student admissions.
  • Liaison with international recruitment agents, partnerships and opportunities including the execution of MOUs, training, retention of international students and payment verification.
  • Cross train graduate admission staff on policies and procedures for international recruitment.
  • Collaborate the design and publication of international recruitment promotional materials, including the webpage and social media.
  • Plan and execute a schedule of communications with international prospective student contacts and respond to inquiries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Make presentations, attend college fairs, and other events, virtually and in person.
  • Be available to work some evenings and weekends, which may include working overnight due to different time zones.
  • Collaborate and assist with domestic recruitment and admission efforts, including counseling prospective students, as needed.
  • Cultivate relationships with government agencies and embassies in the U.S. and abroad, along with key international government agencies in developing and executing an international recruitment plan.
  • Collaborate with senior marketing team and the University Marketing office to develop, oversee, and execute strategic, multi-channel marketing and communication plans targeted to various international audiences. Track, benchmark, report and adjust plans as necessary, based upon metrics.
  • International travel as needed.
  • Maintain general knowledge regarding regulations governing international students and scholars as dictated by the agencies of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
  • Supervise admission staff member(s) as assigned.
  • Manage the budget for international recruitment.

 

 


Qualifications - Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience working with international students, and track record of success enrolling F-1 and/or J-1 students in a leadership role.
  • Familiarity with U.S. immigration regulations relating to non-immigrant students.
  • Strong organizational, communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to undertake domestic and international travel.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including night and weekend hours.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills and experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as a key, collaborative team member.
  • U.S. Citizenship and/or Permanent Residency to be able to work in SEVIS.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects under frequent deadlines.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and databases.
  • Demonstrate the ability to navigate policy and regulatory nuance, including maintaining confidential data.
  • Be a self-motivated, enthusiastic, energetic, and creative individual with the ability to meet and interact effectively and courteously with international visitors, students, college personnel, and members of the community.
  • Experience with Slate.
  • Prior experience working with and/or managing budgets

 

Qualifications - Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in a second language.
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education, International Studies, or similar field with a strong interest in and understanding of international education.
  • Experience living/working in another country.
  • Demonstrated participation and membership in signature international education and education abroad conferences, and professional communities.
