Psi Chi Executive Director

Psi Chi is currently seeking applications for the position of Executive Director. We seek a highly competent professional psychologist who can execute Psi Chi’s strategic plan and provide visionary leadership for the organization. The ED is responsible for oversight of a 14 to 16 person Psi Chi Headquarters staff. Six people report directly to the ED – four department Directors, an Administrative Assistant, and the Donor Engagement Officer. The ED serves as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors, which consists of nine elected members. The ED is also responsible for promoting international collaborations and chapters, developing and supporting initiatives to advance the purpose and mission of Psi Chi, functioning as spokesperson for the Society, and serving as liaison to other professional and psychological organizations.

 

Work will be primarily remote but requires travel to conventions, board meetings, and occasionally to the Psi Chi Headquarters in Chattanooga, TN. Successful candidate may choose to relocate to Chattanooga. 

The Psi Chi Headquarters is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee with staff members working primarily remotely, with some in-person interactions. Extensive travel (approximately 25% of time) is required, including participation in international, national, and regional meetings and conventions. If the ED chooses not to relocate to Chattanooga, a minimum of four visits to Headquarters is expected annually.

Requirements:

  1. Doctorate or terminal degree (as defined by country granting degree) in Psychology or related field. Required teaching or professional experience at the university level. Record of leadership experiences reflecting professional growth. Evidence of commitment to diversity, including respect for global perspectives. Excellent written and spoken communication skills. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience with Psi Chi or a Psi Chi initiative. Member of Psi Chi, or willing and qualified to join if not already a member.

Preferred Experience:

  1. Budget and personnel management experience. Fundraising experience. Grant writing experience. Experience with the development of students or early career professionals Publications and conference presentations in any area of psychology and/or on teaching psychology. Record of supporting student research in psychology. Experience working with/volunteering for psychological organizations.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range of $125–150k, commensurate with experience.
