Collaborate with the director and other leadership team members
within Academic Support Services on strategic planning, visioning,
and decision-making to meet departmental goals that directly align
with the mission of the Division of Student Success. Develop,
administer, and evaluate programs and trainings for students and
staff that promote an understanding of and appreciation for the
principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Manage and
oversee the allocated operational budgets and student scholarships
for Ambiciones. Contribute to mandated reporting processes,
assessments, and departmental program reviews. Promote an
environment of collaboration and partnerships with internal and
external entities and serve on various committees pertaining to
Hispanic/Latino success. Represent the department at conferences
and official programs and events. The associate director supervises
part-time staff and student workers.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree required in student development or similar area of study
- Bilingual/bicultural in English/Spanish required
- Understanding of undocumented student needs and guidelines for support required
- Minimum two years of experience working in advising, retention or counseling within a college setting, community college experience preferred
- Knowledge of Financial Aid processes preferred
- Knowledge of data analysis and data interpretation preferred
- Knowledge of current Hispanic/Latino student success strategies
- Ability to prepare, compile, write and review reports
- Excellent computer skills
- Supervise part-time completion specialist and student workers for Ambiciones
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- May need to work evening and weekend hours for special events
- Perform all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity
- Regular attendance is a requirement of this job
