Candler School of Theology seeks nominations for a senior scholar of New Testament who could join its faculty beginning in Fall 2023. A tenured appointment could be made at the rank of advanced associate professor, full professor, or endowed chair. Strong nominees will be eminent scholars with a record of distinguished publications. They will have demonstrated potential for global intellectual leadership in the field. They will be excellent teachers with a commitment to teaching and mentoring a student body that is diverse with respect to race, gender, culture, sexual orientation, and theological perspectives. They will be ready to join colleagues in service in and beyond the school.
The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in several of Candler’s degree programs, including the MDiv, MTS, and DMin programs. The appointee will have shared responsibility for courses at every level of these programs, from introductory to advanced. The appointee will also join regular faculty rotation in Candler’s Contextual Education program. And the appointee will have a record of research and publication that equips them to play a leading role in the PhD program in the Graduate Division of Religion in the Laney Graduate School of Emory University.
Nominations of women, people from minoritized groups, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ persons, and veterans are especially welcome, as are nominations of people within the Wesleyan tradition (e.g., UMC, AME, AMEZ, CME, Nazarene). Emory University is an EEO/AA employer.
Nominations and inquiries should be sent to Dr. Alison Greene, Search Chair, at email@example.com. Review of nominations will begin on October 1, 2022.
