Responsibilities

PRIME-LA is one of four Medical Education tracks at the David Geffen School of Medicine. It is a five-year concurrent/dual degree (MD/masters) program focusing on the development of leaders and advocates in medicine addressing policy, care and research in healthcare for the underserved and under resourced California communities.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily administrative activities related to program outreach, recruitment, application processes and standard operating procedures for the program. You will serve as the primary liaison between the Program Directors, DGSOM Admission Office, applicants, and faculty at UCLA DGSOM. You will lead and oversee working and collaboration efforts across the DGSOM medical education programs and units and forge strong relationships with partners and stakeholders. You will also be responsible for ensuring all AMCAS traffic rules are diligently followed, all deadlines are met, and all reports are thorough and accurate. 

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, leadership, and community stakeholders.
  • Skill in setting priorities to complete work promptly when there are changes in workload, pressures of deadlines, and competing requirements.
  • Skill in operating a PC including the use of software packages such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Outlook, and other online programs.
  • Skill in budget preparation and oversight.
  • Skill in writing and editing correspondence with correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation and with speed and accuracy.
  • Skill in the development and creation of print materials such as flyers, brochures, posters and handouts to be viewed by faculty, trainees, community physicians, and the general public with correct grammar and accuracy.
  • Ability to make oral group presentations to provide information and explain policies and procedures.
  • Skill in overseeing and executing special events by determining place, time, and arranging catering, parking, etc.
  • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend days and evenings, as needed.
  • Knowledge of University's Medical Education Systems
  • Experience planning and implementing educational programs related to trainees.
  • Knowledge of higher education admissions processes.
