Part-Time Administrative Assistant

Job Description:

The Administrative Assistant is a part-time career service position. The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) Warrington Campus, to include Director and Project Specialists. The Administrative Assistant responsibilities include: (1) Screening incoming phone calls, emails and office visitors. (2) Coordinating meetings with EOC staff. (3) Assisting Warrington Project Specialist with collection of student information and project data. (4) Representing the EOC office while Warrington Staff is out of office.

Additionally, the Administrative Assistant works effectively in a diverse community and meets the needs of diverse student populations; handles a large volume of functions and activities; follows simple and complex written and verbal instructions; and performs other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and exercise discretion concerning confidential matters. Attention to detail and computer proficiency (spreadsheet management, electronic correspondence, and word processing skills) are essential for success in this position. The position may require availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings. This position reports to the Director, EOC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency, four years administrative assistant/secretarial experience, and demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.) in a networked office setting, and internet navigation. College course work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

SALARY: $13.50/hour, No more than 20 hours a week, 48 weeks
