College of the Mainland is seeking an experienced Director, Academic Planning and Innovation. This individual will partner with Faculty and Staff and implement key academic innovations. Serve on select committees that advance the academic mission of the College; Conduct ongoing research related to key higher education initiatives, including global education, student success, and technology-enhanced education and advise Deans and Associate Dean. Direct selected writing, editing, research and assessment projects for the College. Minimum Education/Training/Experience
- Master’s Degree
- Familiarity with regional accrediting reporting
- At least three years experience in Higher Education
- Demonstrated management of curricular projects. Must have strong communication and
organizational skills. Preferred Education/Training/Experience
- Doctoral degree
- Five years experience in Higher Education
- Supervisory experience. Minimum Knowledge & Skills
1. Familiarity and experience with regional accreditation
2. Experience working with Prior Learning Assessment
3. Supervisory principles
4. Budget planning and monitoring
5. Applicable computer programs and equipment
6. Problem solving
7. Compiling and summarizing information and preparing periodic or special reports
8. Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines
9. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the
general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a high degree of accuracy
11. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting demanding
deadlines
12. Ability to create and deliver internal and external communication plans
13. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic,
cultural, disability, religious background and sexual orientation of community college students Preferred Knowledge & Skills
1. Experience with Guided Pathways.
2. Background in Dual Credit
3. Demonstrated success in assessing curriculum, development of programs, and assessing of
programs
4. Knowledge of THECB requirements and processes
5. Prior experience in developing reports to SACSCOC
6. Familiarity with program review processes
7. Experience with strategic planning Licensing/Certification Requirements
N/A Job Duties
1. Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively
accomplish the College’s goals and objectives.
2. Develop, implement and evaluate programs based on labor market data.
3. Research and writing of curriculum proposals to THECB and submissions related to programs
to SACSCOC .
4. Coordinates and supervises all program goals, objectives and activities.
5. Interfaces with staff and faculty, students, community agencies, and other appropriate groups
to initiate and sustain program curriculum and outcomes.
6. Serves as Co-Chair of Curriculum committee and provide administrative support to Faculty
Chair of committee.
7. Provides leadership for the preparation of the Department’s budget to include: assisting in
budget implementations, forecasting funds needed for additional resources, and
administering the approved budget.
8. Comprehensive responsibility to oversee College’s Prior Learning Assessment process.
9. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Assess the needs of local industry and
provide for those needs by developing and working with faculty in developing appropriate
curriculum.
10. Research and implement alternative delivery systems, including those that utilize emerging
technologies, locally and globally, to provide optimum access, training and professional
content for existing and new client populations and for possible future implementation.
11. Selects, assigns, orients, trains, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.
12. Assist department heads with establishing advisory committee meetings and implement
appropriate changes to instructional curriculum or program content.
13. Participate in student recruitment activities.

Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Minimum Salary Range $78,377 Mid Point Salary Range .
