Junior Web Designer/Developer

This is a great opportunity to join a rapidly growing Marketing and Communications team. The perfect candidate for this role will possess an eye for design, knowledge of responsive design, web development skills, and a passion for HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.

You will work closely with the Senior Web Designer/Developer to ensure that the University of Bridgeport and Goodwin University websites are accurate and up-to-date, optimized to deliver the best possible experience for our users, and in compliance with applicable accessibility requirements.

Join our fun and creative team while enjoying a hybrid (on-ground/work from home) schedule. The physical office location of this position is in East Hartford, CT.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Implements regular content updates to the University websites.
  • Ensures the website content is accurate, consistent, aligned with University standards, and in support of institutional goals
  • Tracks workflow utilizing Asana (project management system)
  • Posts weather closing/delay and emergency/crisis communications messages in conjunction with campus safety and security and other stakeholders
  • Attends planning meetings for major events (commencement, faculty research day, homecoming, etc…)
  • Creates design concepts for landing pages
  • Works to address requests from internal stakeholders
  • Meets with department leaders and stakeholders about projects (new academic programs, upcoming events, new initiatives, enrollment and fundraising campaigns, etc…)
  • Collaborates closely with the team on enrollment marketing initiatives
  • Guides web projects through development stages
  • Provides additional communication support as needed (occasional community-wide emails, etc…)
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
  • Ability to write code without a content management system or WYSIWYG editor
  • Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, and other web technology
  • Experience with Photoshop and Dreamweaver templates
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Understanding of Google Analytics or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization best practices and web accessibility standards
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, anticipate needs and workflow
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field and 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience
