Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

 

Position Summary

The Research Professional II supports the Selig Center’s applied economic, demographic, and market research activities by obtaining economic and demographic data from a wide variety of sources, performing statistical analysis of such data, and conveying statistical information to internal and external audiences. Responsibilities include the interpretation of economic trends and data, supporting the Selig Center’s Director and the Dean’s public speaking activities by preparing data, graphs, and other supporting material for internal as well as external use.

 

Physical Demands

Occasional in-state travel involves the set up and break down of the Selig Center’s traveling exhibit.

Job Responsibilities

35% Tracking, updating, analysis and presentation of regional trends and data. Writing articles and delivering speeches on selected topics. Specific examples include:

  • Housing statistics
  • Employment and labor force
  • Income and demographics
  • Georgia business announcements

 

25% Writing selected sections of the annual Georgia Economic Outlook publication.

  • Preparing the economic outlook PowerPoint slide deck (data, graphs), and other supporting material that accompanies the annual Economic Outlook speeches. Deliver speeches.

 

25% Providing the analysis for research projects undertaken by the Selig Center.

 

15% Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Website and Marketplace updates, telephone and email inquiries.
