Position Summary:

The Assistant Professor, 9-month, non-tenure track, is responsible for teaching in the Coordinated Program in Dietetics, which is housed in the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Arkansas State University. Faculty members are expected to deliver instruction, perform service for their respective professions and community, and participate in the management of the Department, College, and University through shared governance

Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession.The faculty has a responsibility to set degree requirements, assess when they are met, and establish and maintain curricula that meet professional standards and fulfill the educational goals of the University

This position is remote and all teaching and other responsibilities will be online. No onsite presence is required. An exception may include the possibility of a very infrequent important meeting, contingent upon the successful candidate's schedule and travel ability, with travel costs covered by the college

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Teaching workload for this full-time, non-tenure track position is normally expected to be 15 credit hours per semester
  • Participate in professional and community service activities
  • Serve on assigned program, college and university committees
  • Faculty members in non-tenure track positions are encouraged but not required to perform research in their areas of interest All faculty members are expected to assume student academic advisement responsibilities in addition to teaching loads and other duties Participate in planning for the continued growth and progress of the department through faculty and student recruitment and retention efforts
  • Participate in program assessment activities
  • Maintain professional competencies and skills required to meet accreditation standards
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate and work well with others
Strong computer/technology skills required, or possess the ability to easily obtain needed skills. (Microsoft Office, Blackboard Learn, and a variety of WEB based programs, etc.)
Ability to work with Canvas (or adapt to it)

General Days/Hours:

Monday-Friday
8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Teaching philosophy

Minimum Qualifications:

Registered dietitian with a minimum of an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in nutrition or related area

Registration status with Commission on Dietetic Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Licensure required in the state of Arkansas

One (1) year professional experience post credentialing. At least (1) year experience with teaching in an online setting is preferred
