    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    The Extension Associate in Youth and Workforce Development position in the College of Agriculture, Community, and the Sciences (ACS) in the Land Grant Program provides coordination of experiential learning opportunities, internships, and entry-level career opportunities in Cooperative Extension and agricultural related fields with a focus on identifying companies and organizations committed to building a sustainable pipeline of opportunities for students within the KSU College of ACS. The Extension Associate in Youth and Workforce Development will drive efforts to expand relationships with agricultural related companies across the US and internationally to promote a portfolio of undergraduate and graduate internship and job opportunities associated with corporate functions.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Arranges and monitors summer internships for students majoring in agriculture or related fields.

    2. Meets with students individually and in group sessions for guidance on internship and job applications, and the writing of resumes and cover letters

    3. Manages financial aspects of all internship programs supported by university, including cash disbursements, budget reconciliation and regular reports to the donors and foundations about the recipients’ experiences

    4. Establishes an internship orientation, check-in, and evaluation process

    5. Prepares an annual report for the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Community, and the Sciences and Chair of the School of Agriculture, Communities, and the Environment each August, analyzing internship supervisor evaluations and flagging any areas that need curricular attention

    6. Arranges and hosts on-campus recruiters and working with Career Development to create opportunities and set up interview schedules

    7. Publicizes internship and job opportunities and deadlines, through the department’s website, emails, posters and social media sites

    8. Network internally with all university faculty and staff as well as external agencies and organizations to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency in meeting the needs of the state’s agriculture teachers and agricultural education programs.

    9. Coordinates student contest, scholarship, and fellowship entries

    10. Continually train and be trained in all areas of education, agriculture and technology to enhance the state’s agricultural education programs.

    11. Conduct and participate in meetings, conferences and other activities to network on behalf of the College of Agriculture.

    12. Develop outreach programing with the KSU MANRRS Chapter.

    13. Establish methods and plans to promote programs and reach diverse and underrepresented audiences representative of the service area including Limited English Proficient individuals.

    14. Collect, enter, and analyze statistical data.

    15. Other related duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master’s degree in a relevant field study.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

    • The successful candidate must be an organized self-starter able to juggle several tasks at once

    • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the Google Suite of services (or similar software)

    • Public speaking skills

    • Required License or Certification

    • A valid driver’s license is required for travel

    • Travel is required for 25% of the time.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
