Summary
The Executive Director/Director of Business and Finance will manage the financial resources of the West Virginia State University Research and Development Corporation. This position is responsible for review and approval of all external grant submissions, supervises business performance of the organization and provides guidance to Corporation employees as needed.
The Executive Director/Director of Business & Finance will develop the Corporation’s financial policies, rules and regulations and ensure the adherence by every department. A successful candidate will be responsible for the administrative oversight of business and finance office activities and supervising the immediate reporting staff. The Executive Director/Director of Business & Finance prepares and reviews financial reports in discussion with the Budget Officer of the Corporation. This positions reports directly to the President of West Virginia State University.
This is a full-time, 12-month position employed by the West Virginia State University Research and Development Corporation.

- Provides financial and operational oversight for the Corporation Oversee all accounting, financial, auditing, budgeting and personnel matters Ensures adherence to all applicable Federal and State regulations and requirements Coordinate annual financial statement and Form 990 preparation external audit supervision Complete required insurance questionnaires and State of WV organizational registrations Provide timely organization updates to WVSU President Serves on Corporation’s Board and present financial statements, year-to-year fiscal report Reviews purchase orders to ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines Assists in the development and recommendation of long and short range administrative and financial plans for the Corporation Provide monthly budget reports to VP/Dean & Director of Agricultural Research and Extension Review and approve grant submissions to federal, state and private organizations Oversee annual 1099 filing Other duties as assigned
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will oversee the budgets for Federal, State and Private organization grants awarded to WVSU Research and Development Corporation. Ensure financial reporting obligations are met as required by funding agencies of grants and contracts.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises all employees of the West Virginia State University Research and Development Corporation business office.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Summer schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, due to the nature of the job performed, flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and occasional overnights, may be required.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related area of concentration from an accredited institution of higher education. A minimum of three to five years of accounting or budgeting experience. Two years or more experience in a supervisory role.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Demonstrated administrative skills and experience; possess a record of grants management from initial submission to closing of awards.
