Position Summary

The Department of Anthropology at the University at Buffalo invites applications for a 10-month tenure-track position (Assistant or Associate Professor) in anthropological archaeology with a focus in Mesoamerica to begin Fall 2023. The successful candidate will have an active research program, and be committed to excellence in teaching and student mentoring. We are interested in candidates with a demonstrated record of original scholarship, and who actively engage in field or laboratory-based research. Strong preference will be given to candidates with broad anthropological training whose areas of research interest and expertise include the Valley of Mexico, and whose work compliments and extends the existing research strengths within the department.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in archaeology, anthropology or a related discipline at the time of hire. In their application, candidates should describe their ongoing and future research plans, and how their research program will provide learning opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students. They should also provide a clear vision for how their research and teaching interests intersect with, build on, and complement existing activities in the department.
