Position Overview:

Maintain and record business transactions for a division or college. Balances and reconciles accounts and prepares reports. Follows procedures established by the UCO Central Budget and other administrative offices across campus. Checks figures, posting, purchases, requisitions, and all other financial documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes. Compiles statistical, financial, accounting or audition reports and tables pertaining to data. Responsible for constantly reviewing operating budgets and reporting information to leadership. Reconciles and reports discrepancies found in records. Performs a variety of tasks.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Reconciles and monitors expenditures and prepares monthly reports. Coordinates and monitors budgets, paperwork and allocations and maintains accurate up to date records for Capital Projects. May initiate and compose authorized budget-related correspondence and gathering associated information and prepares drafts for review. Interacts with UCO colleges and departments regarding their Capital Project requests, to include verifying fund sources, bank codes and the transference of funds. Interprets and analyzes budget status reports and identifies potential budgetary problems. Researches budget processing problems to ensure payment to vendors and responses to inquiries are accomplished in an expeditious manner and in accordance with university policies and procedures. Initiates purchases using requisitions for A & E Services, Inventory and Receiving and Physical Plant as needed. Creates and provides an analysis of budget spending. Maintains, distributes, and files financial documentation and reports. Provides back-up to the Work Order Technician. Coordinates department luncheons and events. May supervise student workers. Contributes in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties as required to support the mission and function of the area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred :

Knowledge and understanding of governmental accounting procedures. Higher Education budgetary experience. Knowledge and ability to apply principles and practices relevant to budget administration. Knowledge and understanding of the University's budget and financial policies, procedures and guidelines. Fosters and maintains working relationships with offices and individuals across campus. Excellent communication, organizational and records management skills.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Technical proficiency- use of automated spreadsheets; Knowledge of government/fund accounting; Detail oriented with attention to accuracy; Possess a high level of technical aptitude; Ability to be a team player with a strong customer service orientation; Ability to work in a results oriented environment; Strong analytical skill and the proven ability to plan and execute complex financial issues.
