Assistant Professor in Information Systems

The Department of Information Systems at San Francisco State University, in the Lam Family College of Business offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August, 2023. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include data analytics, data management, business intelligence or Big data. We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment -- through their research, teaching, and service -- to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.

The LFCoB is one of the largest colleges at SFSU and the home to more than 100 tenured and tenure track faculty members and more than 4,600 students. The Information Systems Department is one of the fastest growing departments at the LFCoB with eight tenured/tenure track faculty members and 287 undergraduate majors. The tenured and tenure track faculty in the IS department are engaged in a current and vibrant scholarship program with topics that include business analytics and intelligence, cyber security, mobile systems and computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, open-source systems, human-computer interaction, social network analysis, database systems, and blockchain technologies. Responsibilities: The position requires graduate and/or undergraduate teaching in various areas in information systems, mentoring and advising graduate and/or undergraduate students, developing an active stream of ongoing refereed publications emerging and established areas of the discipline in addition to ongoing committee and service assignments at department, college and university levels.

Qualifications:

Required:

•           Qualified candidates must have a doctoral degree in the Information Systems domain or a similarly related field. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.

•           Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students

Preferred:

•           Record of teaching contributions in the areas of Information Systems or a closely related field

•           Active record of scholarship related to specialty area in Information Systems;

•           Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching, and/or scholarship/creative works

•           Experience teaching and working closely with students from historically under-represented communities

•           Record of contributing to supportive and collaborative work environments
