Job Description:

OFFICIAL TITLE: Early College Director (Grant-funded, one-year appointment)
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Vice President for Enrollment Management
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervise subordinate non-benefited employees, as assigned.

General Statement of Duties: The Early College Director will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Early College Central Massachusetts Program (EC-CMass). The incumbent is responsible for outreach and agreement establishment with external partners, administration of EC-CMass programming, communication with multiple constituencies, external partner agreement oversight, grant management, student recruitment and registration, wrap-around planning, and program assessment and outcomes documentation. This position is a grant-funded, one-year appointment.

Responsibilities:

  1. (E) Coordinates all aspects of the Early College Central Massachusetts Program.
  2. (E) Collaborates with internal and external constituents related to the promotion and coordination of the program, including faculty, staff, and external schools and school districts.
  3. (E) Establishes, effectuates, and monitors memorandums of agreement and/or contracts with external partners for programming.
  4. (E) Monitors program activities, in collaboration with the finance and grants offices, for FIPSE grant reporting purposes to the U.S. Department of Education.
  5. (E) Hires, supervises, manages, and evaluates the part-time Promotion/Recruitment/Support Specialists.
  6. (E) Identifies college courses to be offered with program partners.
  7. (E) Identifies and secures faculty to teach courses with department chairs and/or academic deans.
  8. (E) Establishes courses with the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education.
  9. (E) Collaborates with the Associate Vice President for University and Community Partnerships to ensure a smooth interface with the programs' part-time Retention Specialist, part-time Mentor Coordinator, and part-time Early College Students Mentors.
  10. (E) Collaborates with Concurrent Enrollment Coordinator to assure all students are registered, withdrawn (if needed), and/or dropped (if needed) from college courses.
  11. (E) Develops, coordinates, and implements orientation programs for program participants, their families, and other stakeholders.
  12. (E) Establishes and manages an EC-CMass website.
  13. (E) Establishes and manages a dynamic database for the secure storage of project enrollment and fiscal information, as well as future use.
  14. (E) Coordinates college-readiness activities, wrap-around supports, and residential learning programs with appropriate on and off-campus partners.
  15. (E) Communicates students' status, progress, grades, and other information with relevant partners.
  16. (E) Collaborates with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and the Associate Vice President for University and Community Partnerships on project objectives, evaluation, assessment, and reporting.
  17. (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students.
  18. (E) Contributes to the WSU Strategic Plan.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience coordinating concurrent/dual/early college programming.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations from varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to traverse multiple bureaucratic agencies to accomplish goals.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to perform responsibilities without error.
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, analyze information, and develop strategies to address issues, find solutions, and perform responsibilities with minimal support.
  • Knowledge of higher education principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a thorough background and CORI check.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The firm annual for this position is $80,000.00. This is a grant-funded, one-year appointment.
