University Residence Manager

Position Summary:
The University Residence Manager is responsible for the general organization, maintenance and management of the university-owned residence of the president of University of Idaho. The position manages all aspects of internal and external home management including housekeeping, dining, facilities, procurement of supply services, events, personal services and special assignments. The University Residence Manager is expected to conduct assessments of the residence depending on the practical need of the residents. The Manager also will perform some of the light duty routine maintenance and is the initial point of contact for the residence and communicates regularly with a variety of internal/external contacts to coordinate all aspects of the house management. Advanced planning and coordination of services is essential to ensuring that the house is maintained and managed at the desired level. The position reports to the AVP for Auxiliary Services with frequent communications and direct partnership with the Office of the President.

The work is generally performed at the convenience of the residents' schedules. During non-peak times, the position may support other residential spaces on campus. The business is full time, but the daily schedule may vary due to events and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years related (facility operations or event planning/management) experience.

  • The ability to handle confidential matters/information with discretion .
  • The ability to successfully and positively interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Customer service experience, exceptional organizational and communications skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Experience with home management/operations including housekeeping/cleaning techniques and facilities management services.
  • Work experience on a higher educational residential campus.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • The position requires the ability to operate standard housekeeping equipment including, among others, a vacuum, buffer, floor machine, wet/dry vacuum, washing machine and dryer.
  • Ability to use stairs

Required Licensures, Certifications or other
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to meet U of I driving requirements.
  • Work a nonstandard schedule as needed.
