The Department of Anthropology seeks applications for a Lecturer in Anthropology who will also fulfill the responsibilities of the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Studies for both the Archaeology and the Social Anthropology Programs. The appointment is expected to begin on 12/01/2022. The position is renewable for up to three years, with the second two years contingent on satisfactory performance review during the first year.  

The Lecturer/ADUS is a teaching and administrative position.  Responsibilities include the following: 
•    Teaching one undergraduate course in her/his area of expertise.  
•    Working with the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and the Undergraduate Program Coordinator in overseeing and working with the Undergraduate Program Coordinator to administer the undergraduate concentrations in Anthropology.  
•    Academic advising, interfacing with relevant offices of Harvard College and with DUS/Head Tutors of other departments, and raising awareness of Anthropology across the College.  
•    Supervisory and oversight responsibilities (in coordination with the DUS and a Department Teaching Fellow) for three required undergraduate courses: 
o    Anthropology 98a and 98b – Junior Tutorials focused on preparing concentrators to undertake fieldwork and develop their own research projects; 
o    Anthropology 99 – a year-long writing seminar for Senior thesis writers, for which the ADUS runs weekly meetings.  
•    Advising and evaluating senior theses.
