Position Description:

The Administrative Assistant for the First-Year Experience is responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support for the Office of the First-Year Experience, which is overseen by the Director of the First-Year Experience and assisted by the Student Academic Development Coordinator. In addition to providing general office support, this position is the first line of communication between the Office of the First-Year Experience and first-year students and their families, as well as faculty, staff and the general public. The Administrative Assistant does all the scheduling for the Director of the First-Year Experience, supports coordination of materials for workshops, tracks the First-Year Experience and orientation budgets, orders all office supplies, creates brochures and pamphlets from the office, and coordinates the selection and management of 45-50 peer mentors each year which includes the scheduling of interviews, tracking of new hires, and approval of peer mentor hours. This person also provides general support for the Student Academic Development Coordinator, whose responsibilities include organizing and delivering new student orientation programs.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be highly organized and will possess strong time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Careful attention to detail and proficiency in using computers and technology are essential. The position also requires excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, as well as flexibility in responding to various working and supervisory styles. Must be able to take direction and work independently while also maintaining confidentiality; patience, creativity, resourcefulness, and a sense of humor are a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree with 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of coursework and experience. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and accounting applications (Microsoft Office).

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
