Purpose:

Responsible for assisting with the cleanliness and upkeep of the University facilities as well as other duties appropriate to position requirements including operation of custodial-related equipment, heavy duty floor care, knowledge of custodial chemicals and service techniques. Directs routine activities of custodial staff to include, but not limited to instruction and training of heavy duty floor care techniques and operation of custodial equipment; and serves in the absence of the Manager of Custodial & Administrative Services. Duties:
  • Assists with the cleanliness and upkeep of University facilities including but not limited to: hallways, stairwells, lounges, classrooms, offices, tenant areas
  • Understands and performs heavy duty floor care techniques appropriate to stripping, sealing, and waxing various types of floor finish (i.e. terrazzo, stone, VCT tile); and provides instruction and training of such techniques to custodial staff
  • Operates all custodial-related equipment (i.e. floor scrubbers, floor buffers, floor finish applicators, vacuums, carpet extractors, and touch-free cleaning equipment); and provides instruction and training for custodial-related equipment to custodial staff
  • Provides instruction and training to Custodial II staff for heavy duty floor care
  • Attends all scheduled training sessions
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and assist in receipt/stock incoming supplies and materials, and assist in issuing materials and supplies to custodial staff
  • Maintains inventory of supplies to complete assigned jobs; keep closet clean and free from clutter
  • Moves furniture/equipment as necessary
  • Assists in building, renovation, and remodeling projects on campus as necessary
  • Performs other duties appropriate to position requirements as assigned by supervision
  • Directs routine activities of custodial staff
  • Serves in the absence of the Manager of Custodial & Administrative Services
  • Contributes to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance the services of the division; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed.

Qualifications



Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent Experience:

Minimum one - two years related experience with continued on-the-job training; proficient with floor care equipment, touch-free cleaning systems, vacuums, and other equipment related to facilities cleaning and upkeep tasks Specialized Training:

Floor care, proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs, and valid drivers license required Skills, Attributes Customer Service:
