The Department of Business at Concord University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Business at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, effective January 2023. The position is contingent upon budget availability.

Faculty members assume an active and collegial role in the planning and governance of the Department’s activities and expectations. Primary responsibility will include teaching a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate business and quantitative courses with a 4/4 teaching load. In addition, faculty are responsible for advising, participation in curriculum review and development, and assessment of student learning.

The candidate will be expected to conduct scholarly research and be involved in service to the regional business community. A portion of service activities will include serving on University and Departmental committees. Teaching some classes online and/or at the University’s off-campus site in Beckley, WV is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Education/Knowledge

Minimum Education Master's Required Licenses/Certification

  • The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. with a quantitative focus or related field from a regionally accredited intuition, preferably with AACSB or ACBSP accreditation also.
  • A quantitative educational background in areas of accounting, finance, or economics is also preferable.
  • A doctorate is required for tenure consideration. Individuals with a solid research background who are ABD at the final stage of completion of the dissertation may, at the discretion of the University, be considered.

  • Individuals holding the MBA or other related master’s degrees may be considered for a Visiting Professorship.
  • Business experience is desirable.
  • The successful candidate must possess demonstrated teaching competency and also must have a strong commitment to, and understanding of, the role of undergraduate business education in a liberal arts environment.

Concord University is a small public, comprehensive institution with an enrollment of around 1800 students. The University is located in a scenic, small-town setting in the mountains of southern West Virginia with access to year-round outdoor recreation activities. While life is slower in the Appalachians, Athens is within driving distance to metropolitan areas in West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and Washington, DC.
