Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31807. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The Study Abroad Coordinator reports to the Director in the Office of International Education (OIE), and is primarily responsible for advising and enrolling students in programs, coordinating education abroad programs including exchange programs, communications, event planning and implementation. The individual serves as the primary contributor to social media outreach, and is responsible for data reporting, general student advising on ASU and non-ASU programs, assisting in managing study abroad agency accounts, providing administrative support to all education abroad programs, faculty- coordinators, and the overall mission of the Comprehensive Internationalization of the ASU campuses.

Responsibilities

Managing all aspects of campus study abroad and exchange programs, including but not limited to:

Advising:
  • Serving as ASU point of contact for students and alumni abroad; supporting and communicating with students currently studying abroad, and their parents, as appropriate.
  • Advising on financial resources for programs and tuition fees: financial aid, study abroad scholarship/travel stipend process; advising students throughout the application process for outside scholarship programs, for example, the Gilman International Study Abroad Scholarship and Fund for Education Abroad.
Program Coordination
  • Managing the recruitment, selection, orientation and re-entry of study abroad students; maintaining and sharing accurate study abroad databases internally, while maintaining all communication for effective program implementation.
  • Overseeing study abroad program budgets and accounts and reporting to the Director; performing cost determination and analysis of program budgets during development phase; responsible for ensuring the payment of all study abroad program expenses and faculty travel expenses
  • Developing materials for student and faculty pre-and post-departure orientations and evaluation based on ASU/USG policies, including location specific procedures related to embassies, consulates, and local laws or regulations.
  • Working with units and departmental stakeholders in recruiting study abroad students.
  • Collaborating with OIE units to implement services that involve on-campus events, cultural excursions, and after-hours programming for campus internationalization and global learning.
  • Managing and maintaining reports on study abroad statistics, and annual reports to the Director; compiling data as requested for faculty/staff inquiries, handle requests for data research; supervising Global Ambassadors' Organization activities etc.
  • Coordinating social media and working with the marketing specialist in designing social media strategy and implementing the campaign, keeping abreast of new developments in social technology, and working in conjunction with overall ASU marketing plan to enhance recruitment and communication with students.
  • Coordinating and writing communications through the web, electronic reports/ASU Global Issues or newsletters, and other media outlets, including developing ideas and concepts for publication and drafting promotional materials.
  • Maintaining all education abroad files; composing letters; maintaining calendar.
  • Assisting in updating and implementing study abroad guidelines and policies.
Promotion and Outreach: The Coordinator/ Advisor will also:
  • Develop strategies for promoting, recruiting, and advising applicants; hosts promotional events; plan and lead events such as annual study abroad fair, pre-and post-departure orientations for study abroad students, community outreach, and collaborate with the ISSA and others in implementing the annual International Education Week (IEW) activities
  • Provide general support to the OIE.
  • Assist the Director with any other job-related assignments for achieving departmental goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with three to four years of study abroad work experience in higher education institution or Master's Degree with two to three years' work experience in study abroad or related area.

Experience working in a university/college study abroad office.

Experience working with students, faculty, and administration.

Experience with data reporting/management.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with multiple audiences.

Social media and web skills.

In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, we will accept experience with international education.

Preferred Qualifications

International experience (work/internship, study, or living outside of United

States and its territories) and foreign language proficiency.

Event planning experience and time management skills.

Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint,

Publisher, adobe suite, desk top publishing, software and email.

Effective budgeting and reporting skills.

Flexible and strong problem-solving skills.

Administrative experience.

Proposed Salary

Salary range is from $35,000 to $45,000
