The Direct Marketing Specialist, Sports Foundation Marketing incumbent will serve as a key liaison to the Brown University Sports Foundation and will help maintain a comprehensive marketing calendar while supporting the coordination of various initiatives across all direct-marketing channels for the 34 varsity sport Teams and 40+ club teams. The Specialist will work to find efficiencies in processes and will partner with members of the BUSF team to implement process improvements. Furthermore, the incumbent will help to review and proof marketing efforts for accuracy and quality control.

The Direct Marketing Specialist, in coordination with the broader Advancement Marketing team, will facilitate the creation, execution, and implementation of the direct response marketing plans developed by the various channel leads within the Advancement Marketing team. Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the direct mail, email, social media and phone (phonathon and texting) communications that serve to cultivate, solicit, educate, inform, and steward members of the Brown community on behalf of Brown Athletics and the Brown University Sports Foundation. The Specialist will follow established marketing protocols and adhere to best practices to ensure that all projects are completed on time while meeting the highest quality standards. In collaboration with other members of the team, the incumbent will play an important role in assisting with the marketing tactics necessary to support the fundraising goals of Brown Athletics and the Brown University Sports Foundation.

The incumbent will review the accuracy of all communications produced through the BUSF and will ensure that they are consistent with the overall marketing strategy of the Advancement Marketing team. Furthermore, the Specialist will work in close collaboration with the Advancement Communications team and the members of the BUSF team to guarantee effective alignment with the overall Division of Advancement communications strategy.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as an understanding of the contributions a diverse workforce brings to the workplace.

  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, and proofreading skills required.

  • Creativity, motivation, and problem solving ability.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of tools and marketing practices for measuring success of engagement efforts. Strong skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software. Ability to adapt to changing technologies is essential.

  • Ability to deal with confidential information with complete discretion required.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field (marketing, communications, non-profit etc.) required.

  • Familiarization with email marketing platforms (Salesforce, Campaign Monitor, Emma, etc.) preferred.

  • Experience with athletic programs, fundraising, marketing preferred.
